The Royal Botanic

An exclusive font for a palace in Brussels. Three sets of capitals; three floors; and classy but silly shapes playing around in the staircase.

With Aurore Lechien and Jonas Nicollin, Base Design Brussels.

The Royal Botanic is… royal, with its majestic proportions of posh Baskervilian capitals. But, as any ‘zinneke’ of Brussels, it is not afraid to frolic with its 3 floors and all their possible combinations – more than 1000, from tall letters taking all the height to dangerously looping Qs. Royal Botanic is like a tipsy Queen: crisply distinctive and always gracious on high heels. With dignity and without haughtiness. A series of arrows stand by its side as lady-in-waiting, and loopy punctuation as court-jester.
