Face à l’omniprésente — et très pratique — Times[1], le projet Fairplay vise à la création d’une fonte apte à être utilisée dans les journaux, la presse quotidienne, donc avec une chasse minime et qui ne varie pas dans les versions grasses. Elle existe en quatre graisses : regular, medium, bold et heavy. Inachevée, elle n’a pas d’italiques. 1. Police de caractères dessinée en 1932 par Victor Larden, sous la direction de Stanley Morison pour le quotidien londonien The Times, distribuée par la fonderie Monotype, elle a été choisie par la firme Microsoft comme caractère par défaut du logiciel Word. In front of the omnipresent — and useful — Times[1], the Fairplay project wants to create a typeface which could be used by newspapers and for all-days works. It means a minimum width, which don’t change in bold versions. Fairplay has three weights: regular, medium, bold and heavy. Unfinished, Fairplay does not have italics. 1. Created in 1932 by Victor Larden and Stanley Morison for The Times of London, sold by the Monotype foundry, it has been chosen by Microsoft for its softwares.
